2025 Tony Awards: Full List of Winners Revealed
"Maybe Happy Ending" emerged as the standout production at the 2025 Tony Awards, securing six awards, most notably the prestigious Best Musical title during the ceremony held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
Entering the night with ten nominations each, "Buena Vista Social Club," "Death Becomes Her," and "Maybe Happy Ending" were all strong contenders. Meanwhile, "John Proctor is the Villain" and "The Hills of California," both vying for Best Play, garnered seven nominations but ultimately fell short to "Purpose," which claimed the top honor.
Nicole Scherzinger, making her Broadway debut in "Sunset Boulevard," took home the award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical. This victory came at the expense of Broadway icon Audra McDonald, who holds the record for the most Tony Awards won by a performer with six. Had McDonald won this time, she would have surpassed legends Julie Harris and Angela Lansbury. This nomination marked McDonald's 11th, a record in itself for the Tony Awards.
Notable film and television stars George Clooney, Mia Farrow, and Bob Odenkirk were also in contention for acting honors but left without awards. Clooney, nominated for his portrayal of Edward R. Murrow in "Good Night, and Good Luck," lost to Cole Escola, the first non-binary winner of Best Leading Actor in a Play for "Oh, Mary!" Farrow was bested by Sarah Snook for Best Lead Actress in a Play, while Odenkirk saw Francis Jue take home the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play.
Cynthia Erivo hosted this year's event, opening with a lively musical number that set the tone for the evening.

The show featured performances from all nominees for Best Musical—"The Buena Vista Social Club," "Dead Outlaw," "Death Becomes Her," "Maybe Happy Ending," and "Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical." Additionally, productions nominated for Best Revival of a Musical, including "Floyd Collins," "Gypsy," "Sunset Blvd.," and "Pirates! The Penzance Musical," showcased their talents. A special reunion performance by the original cast of "Hamilton" celebrated the show's 10-year milestone.
