Aaron Judge's $20K Diamond Gavel Necklace: A Gift with Personal Touch

Jun 04 2025

Yankees right-fielder Aaron Judge has turned heads this season with a striking gavel necklace, a piece that reflects both his personality and his philanthropic efforts through the All Rise Foundation.

While Judge has kept details about the necklace under wraps, sources reveal that the custom piece, valued at $20,000, was a thoughtful gift from teammate Giancarlo Stanton. Crafted by AJ Machado at AJ's Jewelry in Miami, the necklace is made of 14-karat white gold and adorned with over 12 carats of VVS-graded diamonds, complemented by three bands of amethysts.

Stanton approached Machado at the start of training season, aiming to create something special for Judge. The design process involved multiple drafts to ensure it was both eye-catching and suitable for on-field wear. "Custom and nothing too big," Stanton specified, highlighting the need for practicality alongside flair.

Embedded within the necklace are personal elements that resonate deeply with Judge. The names of his daughter, Nora, along with her birthday (1/27/25), and his wife Samantha's name (shortened to Sam) are included. Additionally, the names of his dogs, Gus and Penny, and a "2x" symbolizing his two MVP awards add layers of significance. A rose crafted from rose gold and white diamonds crowns the piece.

After receiving the pendant, Stanton texted Machado with the news: "Judge loved it." This sentiment was echoed when Machado attended a Yankees game recently, where he spotted Judge proudly wearing the necklace while at bat. "It was pretty cool," he remarked, reflecting on the moment.

Machado's connection to professional athletes runs deep; he has been designing jewelry since opening his Miami shop in 1992. Initially creating pieces for University of Miami football players, his reputation has since expanded to include clients across all major sports leagues. "We just blew up," he stated, noting that he now serves over 500 athletes across the NFL, NBA, and MLB.

His work has garnered recognition, including being named "the most well-connected" custom designer in pro sports by ESPN in 2011. Notably, he crafted the University of Miami's iconic turnover chain and has had high-profile clients like boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and rapper Drake, who reportedly spent $300,000 on custom pieces.

As Judge continues to shine on the field, his gavel necklace serves as a testament to friendship and personal milestones, blending luxury with heartfelt meaning.
