Amanda Belichick Supports Father Amid UNC Struggles

Oct 14 2025

Amanda Belichick took to Instagram to voice her support for her father, Bill, who is facing scrutiny during his initial season as head coach at the University of North Carolina. The Tar Heels currently hold a disappointing 2-3 record, with victories only against Charlotte and Richmond.

In a video shared on her Instagram Story, Amanda, 41, highlighted Bill's message of patience, captioning it with “❤️ the process.” This comes as the former New England Patriots coach attempts to instill a new culture within the team.

Bill, 73, addressed the media on October 13, referencing coaching legends Nick Saban and Bill Walsh, both of whom transitioned from the NFL back to college football. “It’s a process, you know?” he stated. “You build a culture. You build a program. And eventually, the results, they’ll come.”

He expressed hope for improvement, saying, “When will that happen? Hopefully as soon as possible... We’re working hard to get there.” His comments followed speculation regarding his future at UNC, including rumors of a potential contract buyout.

After a bye week following a 38-10 defeat to Clemson on October 4, Bill acknowledged the challenges of preparing his team. “We’re all in it together, but we’re making a lot of progress,” he remarked. “The process will eventually produce the results that we want to produce, like they have everywhere else I’ve been.”

Addressing concerns raised by WRAL News about a “toxic environment” within the program, Bill responded, “I don’t know what kind of perspective some of those people have that are saying that... I’m sure the players all see the improvement they’re making.”

University of North Carolina athletics director Bubba Cunningham also attended Monday’s press conference, acknowledging that Bill’s start has not met expectations. “There’s a steeper learning curve than we all anticipated,” Cunningham noted. “The gap between expectations and performance is more severe than what we expected.”

The Tar Heels are set to return to action on Friday, October 17, as they travel to face the California Golden Bears.
