Amaya Espinal Reflects on Breakup with Bryan Arenales, Embraces Future Possibilities

Amaya Espinal is navigating the emotional aftermath of her breakup, a reality she confirmed just two days ago.

Known affectionately as Amaya Papaya, the Love Island USA season 7 champion captured the hearts of viewers during her time in Fiji. Following her victory, she and Bryan Arenales enjoyed a brief romance, but the relationship took a turn shortly after the season reunion aired.

On August 27, Amaya took to Instagram to announce their separation, stating, “After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys. Our visions didn’t align and relationships are supposed to be a team sport. You don’t have to drink the whole sea to know it’s salty. All love here and I truly wish him the best.”

“It’s something I am still processing,” Amaya shared while on set for a beauty campaign in Los Angeles on August 28. “But, I am very optimistic and very hopeful for the future,” she added, expressing gratitude for the support surrounding her.

“Honestly, it really feels amazing to see that there’s so many people that can relate to me and that they see themselves inside a part of me,” she remarked about the outpouring of support since her time in the villa. “It really is such a great feeling, seriously.”

In moments of solitude or sadness, Amaya finds solace in the thought of her supporters. “Then I remember my Papayas, my family, my friends, and it really does help lift me up,” she said, extending her appreciation to fans: “Thank you guys so much for being a part of this journey with me.”

During the reunion special aired on August 25, Bryan addressed rumors regarding a video that allegedly depicted him cheating. He dismissed the claims as unfounded, stating, “They’re trying to just throw any hate my way.”

He clarified that the video was taken during an event where he was paid to host. “I used to bartend back in the day. I had a lapse in judgment, and we’ve talked about it,” he explained, referring to his actions at the event.

Amaya also weighed in on the situation, asserting, “I’m also not a woman that would be with someone who doesn’t respect me. So if I’m with him and still with him currently, it’s because the relationship dynamic is healthy and great.”

However, by the time the reunion aired, both had unfollowed each other on Instagram, and Amaya's cryptic social media posts fueled speculation about their relationship status. Just two days later, they confirmed their split.

On his Instagram stories, Bryan expressed his sentiments: “Unfortunately, we were not on the same page and that is okay. We have both gained clarity that we are on different paths right now. I am thankful for the time we have spent together and I wish her nothing but the best moving forward.”
