Jul 08 2025

Allisha Gray's 24 points propelled the Atlanta Dream to a 90-81 win against the Golden State Valkyries on Monday night, showcasing a commanding fourth quarter. Naz Hillmon contributed significantly with 16 points, including a career-high four 3-pointers, as the Dream seized control late in the game.

With just 4:34 remaining, Gray completed a pivotal three-point play that shifted the momentum in Atlanta's favor. Hillmon followed up with consecutive 3-pointers, igniting a 15-2 run that extended the lead to 87-77.

In stark contrast to the earlier quarters, the Dream outscored the Valkyries 26-13 in the final frame, demonstrating their defensive prowess and offensive efficiency.

Rhyne Howard added 15 points to the mix, while Brionna Jones contributed 14 points, eight rebounds, and five assists for Atlanta (12-7), who are set to embark on a six-game road trip starting Friday against Indiana. Brittney Griner managed to score 10 of her 11 points in the first half, providing early support.

On the other side, Monique Billings led Golden State (9-9) with 19 points. Kayla Thornton and Tiffany Hayes chipped in with 15 and 12 points respectively, while both Veronica Burton and Kate Martin added 11 points each.

Billings' follow shot at the buzzer of the third quarter gave Golden State a slight cushion at 68-64, but it was not enough to withstand Atlanta's late-game surge.

Notably, Atlanta capitalized on turnovers, scoring a season-high 25 points off mistakes made by the Valkyries, underscoring their ability to convert defensive stops into offensive opportunities.
