Carson Herron Makes His Mark at the 3M Open
Carson Herron stepped onto the course at the 3M Open, a name that resonates with Minnesota golf enthusiasts. The young golfer, carrying the legacy of his father, Tim Herron, a four-time PGA Tour champion, is making his own mark.
After completing his round with a score of 1-under 70, Carson expressed his excitement: "It was honestly awesome. I can't really put it into words still. But it just means a lot to be able to go play in front of my family and friends and everyone here in Minnesota."
Having recently concluded his collegiate golf career at the University of New Mexico, Carson is now navigating the professional circuit. He qualified for the John Deere Classic earlier this season, marking his debut on the PGA Tour.
Reflecting on his father's role, Carson noted, "I think he likes to get involved, but not too much. He wants to just help me. Help me do my best and guide me along the way." This supportive dynamic is evident as Carson strives to improve his game.
When asked about areas for growth, he identified, "150 (yards) and in, I think, is where I need the most improvement. But if I work hard at that, it can turn around quickly." Despite missing the cut at even par, this experience is a significant milestone for the former Minnetonka Skipper.
"Probably something I didn't think was possible," he reflected on his journey. "But with hard work, and dedication and never giving up, you can always push yourself further. It was always my dream to play in this since I started coming and watching in 2019. It was awesome to make that a reality."
