Professional golfer Charley Hull withdrew from the Evian Championship on July 10 after collapsing twice at the fourth tee box of the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains, Haute-Savoie, France.
At 29 years old, Hull experienced two falls on the course, prompting immediate medical attention. Following treatment, she was transported off the course via a golf buggy.
A representative for Hull confirmed that she was "battling a virus" and received an IV drip on-site but did not require hospitalization.
Starting her round at the 10th tee, Hull had managed to score one under par after 12 holes before her health issues arose.
Despite her talent, Hull has yet to secure a major championship victory, having finished as runner-up at the Women’s Open, U.S. Women’s Open, and Chevron Championship.

In a notable incident at the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open, Hull gained attention for smoking a cigarette on the course. "It was crazy," she remarked in an interview, reflecting on the unexpected publicity. "Not really what I was expecting, but I guess it shows that any publicity is good publicity."
Since then, Hull has committed to quitting smoking, a promise she made in March and continues to uphold.
Outside of golf, Hull shared with Us Weekly in April that she is in a relationship but prefers to keep details private. "I think it’s a good thing to do," she stated, acknowledging the challenges of maintaining privacy in her profession.
Commenting on the public scrutiny faced by fellow golfer Rory McIlroy, who filed for divorce from Erica Stoll in May 2024 only to retract it the following month, Hull expressed her views on public perception.

She added, "My famous saying is, 'People’s opinions don’t pay my bills.' So you’ve just got to brush it off with a pinch of salt, you know what I mean?"
As the first round concluded at the Evian Championship, five players—Leona Maguire, Andrea Lee, Gabriela Ruffels, Grace Kim, and Jennifer Cupcho—tied for the lead with scores of six-under 65.
