Dak Prescott Celebrates 32nd Birthday with Focus on Super Bowl Aspirations
On Tuesday, Dak Prescott marked his 32nd birthday with a round of golf followed by quality time with his fiancée and daughters. Yet, his demeanor at practice suggests a youthful spirit that belies his age.
As the longest-tenured player on the Cowboys roster and the active starting quarterback with the most years in the NFL, Prescott's experience is unmatched. However, he insists that his drive to win remains as fierce as it was during his rookie season.
"Fresh air, fresh breath, new coach, young guys on the team," Prescott remarked. "Being the third-oldest guy on the team feels surreal at times, but the energy from the younger players is contagious. I'm grateful for where I am." His words reflect a blend of maturity and enthusiasm that resonates throughout the locker room.
This youthful energy is partly a result of head coach Brian Schottenheimer's influence. During the Cowboys' coaching search earlier this year, Prescott shared his thoughts on Schottenheimer with team owner Jerry Jones.
When questioned about his conversation with Jones, Prescott noted, "I told him nothing he didn't already know." He emphasized Schottenheimer's vibrant energy and competitive spirit, stating, "It's something we experience every day in practice. We're walking a fine line, but we have to ensure we don't cross it."
Prescott's positivity extends beyond football. Embracing his role as a "girl dad" to two young daughters has brought him immense joy. "I've been through a lot in life. There are seasons of everything. I think I'm in the season of gratefulness," he shared. "With two girls under two and a beautiful fiancée, it's special. There's a lot of pink in the house—colors I'm not used to—but it's been fun, and they make my days better."
Despite his personal happiness, Prescott remains focused on achieving a championship with Dallas. The last time the Cowboys lifted the Lombardi Trophy, he was just two years old. Now, he faces the challenge of leading them to their first Super Bowl victory in three decades.
After nine unsuccessful attempts, Prescott is optimistic about his tenth try. "We have a group of guys who are starving for success but understand that it’s one practice at a time," he stated. "That’s the only way we’ll get there, and it has to be our best practice. With the right energy and youth we have, I believe we have the pieces to put it together."
