Dean Cain Promotes ICE Recruitment Amid Controversy
Dean Cain, known for his role as Superman in the '90s series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, is stepping into a new role—advocating for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The actor, who has become a prominent figure among conservative circles, is urging Americans to consider careers with ICE as the agency faces challenges in recruitment.
In a recent social media video, Cain stated, “For those who don’t know, I am a sworn law enforcement officer, as well as being a filmmaker, and I felt it was important to join with our first responders to help secure the safety of all Americans, not just talk about it.” His call to action comes as Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem seeks to bolster ICE's numbers by offering substantial bonuses and relaxing previous recruitment requirements.
Cain emphasized the benefits of joining ICE, including a $50,000 signing bonus and student loan repayment options. He noted that the agency has removed the degree requirement for recruits and lifted the age limit, which previously capped applicants at 39 years old. This change aims to attract older millennials and Gen Xers, while also allowing younger candidates to apply.

“They need your help, we need your help, to protect our homeland for families,” Cain urged potential recruits. His comments align with Noem's recent recruitment push, where she described this moment as “a defining moment in our nation’s history,” encouraging Americans to step up and join the agency.
However, ICE's focus extends beyond high-profile criminals. Data from TRAC indicates that approximately 70% of migrants detained by ICE have no criminal record in the U.S., raising questions about the agency's priorities. Critics argue that the recruitment campaign may target individuals without significant criminal backgrounds.
Cain has expressed dissatisfaction with recent portrayals of Superman, labeling them as “woke” and defending his stance against detractors. In response to a comment on his recruitment video suggesting that Superman would disapprove of his actions, Cain retorted, “Not a chance.”

While some reports suggested that Cain had joined ICE as an agent, he clarified on social media that he remains a sworn deputy in Virginia. With the new age policy in place, he could technically apply to join ICE if he chooses.
The recruitment efforts by Noem and Cain reflect a broader strategy to reshape the narrative around immigration enforcement in the U.S., aiming to attract a diverse range of candidates to address ongoing challenges within the agency.
