Eagles' Jalen Hurts Engages in Heated Exchange with Chiefs Players Following Victory
The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs clashed not only on the field but also in a heated exchange that lingered until the final whistle of their Super Bowl rematch.
As the Eagles secured their 20-17 victory at Arrowhead Stadium on September 14, Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones took a jab at Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, questioning his performance despite the win. “You didn’t even have 100 yards,” Jones remarked, targeting Barkley, who was named the 2024 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts quickly defended his teammate, retorting, “We won the f***ing game. Shut yo ass up.”
Barkley concluded the game with 88 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Hurts completed 15 of 22 passes for 101 yards and added a rushing touchdown to his stats.
“Take pride in winning, one, and take pride in what is required of you, two,” Hurts stated post-game. He praised the defense for their stellar performance and emphasized the importance of teamwork. “We just need to continue to build,” he added.
Looking ahead, Hurts acknowledged the Chiefs as a formidable opponent, expressing respect for their capabilities. “You have to come in with a sense of focus. Stay patient with yourself. Stay patient with your team,” he advised.
The Eagles are set to face the Los Angeles Rams on September 21, looking to maintain their momentum.

Throughout the game, tensions escalated for the Chiefs, highlighted by tight end Travis Kelce’s visible frustration. Caught on camera during the second quarter, Kelce exclaimed, “I’m sick of this s**t!” while throwing his helmet in frustration.
A pivotal moment occurred in the fourth quarter when a pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes slipped through Kelce’s fingers and was intercepted by Eagles’ Andrew Mukuba. Mukuba returned the interception for 41 yards, setting up Hurts’ rushing touchdown that extended the Eagles’ lead to 20-10.
Reflecting on the interception, Mahomes admitted, “I threw it a tad too early. If I could put it on his body, he can catch it, take the hit and get into the end zone.”
This loss marked a significant moment for Mahomes, as it was his first time experiencing three consecutive losses in his NFL career since last season’s Super Bowl defeat. Additionally, it was the first time since 2014 that the Chiefs began their season with two straight losses.
The Chiefs will look to rebound as they head to New York to face the Giants on Sunday night.
