A father in Camden, Ohio, is facing serious charges after allegedly killing a woman with a machete, mistakenly believing she was his daughter's former boyfriend. Kenneth Brabant, 59, reportedly acted in a fit of rage late Sunday night as his daughter called the police, fearing her ex was harassing her on a motorcycle.

Just moments later, an unrelated motorcyclist contacted emergency services to report that his passenger, 41-year-old Leigha Huff, had suffered severe injuries from a machete attack. The motorcyclist rushed Huff to a nearby residence, but she succumbed to her injuries before medical assistance could arrive.

Authorities stated that Brabant threw the machete, convinced that he was targeting his daughter's ex. "It just happened to be a random motorcycle coming down the road," Sheriff Mike Simpson explained, highlighting the tragic misunderstanding.

Brabant was taken into custody on Monday and is charged with multiple offenses, including murder, tampering with evidence, attempted murder, and assault. He is currently being held at the Preble County Jail with a bond set at $1 million.

During his initial court appearance on Wednesday, Brabant expressed remorse, stating, “All I can say is I’m sorry.” His emotional response reflects the gravity of the situation.

Huff was known for her strength in battling cancer and was described as an "awesome mother" by her friend Jeremy Tucker. "She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time," Tucker remarked, emphasizing the senseless nature of the tragedy.
