Florida Math Teacher, 32, Faces Allegations of Sexual Misconduct with Student During Lunch Break
A 32-year-old mathematics teacher from Florida has been arrested for allegedly engaging in sexual activities with a student during lunchtime at Corner Lake Middle School, part of the Orange County Public Schools system.
Sarah Jacas, who was employed at the school, faced a judge following her arrest on Monday. Reports indicate that the alleged incidents occurred between December 2022 and April 2023, involving a now-16-year-old boy who claimed he had sexual relations with Jacas when he was just 14.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the boy disclosed the encounters to investigators on June 10. The affidavit details that he would often eat lunch in Jacas' classroom due to difficulties fitting in with his peers.
Communication between the two reportedly continued through text messages until the minor's parents became aware of the situation. Following this, Jacas allegedly resorted to using an Instagram account to maintain contact.
The relationship came to light when Jacas' husband discovered the exchanges and threatened to report her actions. In response to the allegations, an OCPS spokesperson confirmed that Jacas is not currently working during the summer break.
The principal of Corner Lake Middle School addressed the community, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations and confirming that an investigation is underway by law enforcement and the district’s Office of Professional Standards. “This person will not be returning to campus pending the outcome of the investigation,” the principal stated.
Jacas faces multiple charges, including two counts of lewd or lascivious battery and two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation, both categorized under custodial authority. Additionally, she is charged with one count of soliciting or engaging in sexual conduct with a minor, with her bond set at $19,000.
