Get Ready for the Thrill: "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning" Premieres in NYC

May 19 2025

So, the buzz is real! "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" is about to hit theaters, and fans are totally hyped. The U.S. premiere went down at Lincoln Center in New York City on Sunday, and let me tell you, it was a star-studded affair.

Tom Cruise, along with a bunch of other stars from the film, rolled out the red carpet to greet fans. I mean, can you believe it? This is the eighth time Cruise is stepping into the shoes of Ethan Hunt, and he’s still going strong after nearly three decades. Talk about dedication!

During the premiere, CBS News New York's Jenna DeAngelis caught up with Cruise and asked him how it felt to be celebrating this milestone. He got a bit nostalgic, saying, "I guess proud because, honestly, I just remember as a kid I wanted to make movies. It's something that I will never take for granted." You can really feel the passion in his words.

As the crowd cheered, actor Simon Pegg chimed in, sharing his hopes for the film. "I hope it will move them in lots of different ways. It's a very emotional film as well as being a very exciting film." Sounds like we’re in for a rollercoaster of emotions!

In this latest installment, Cruise and his crew are taking things to a whole new level. They’re tackling artificial intelligence, dubbed "The Entity," which is out to wreak havoc on humanity. Erik Jendresen, the screenplay writer, hinted at the film's darker tone, saying, "I think people are going to be surprised by the tone and the darkness of the story because the stakes are so incredibly high." Yikes, that sounds intense!

Rolf Saxon, another cast member, added, "I think people are gonna walk away being very satisfied." Honestly, with all the hype, it’s hard to imagine anything less.

And it’s not just the action that’s got the cast buzzing. Greg Tarzan shared his excitement, saying, "It's a dream come true. You know, when I was a child, I grew up on this franchise." Meanwhile, Stephen Oyoung described the experience as "surreal," while Charles Parnell expressed how amazing it is to transition from being a fan to being part of the action. "It's almost like you're stepping out of the movie theater and onto the screen," he said.

As the film gears up for its release, the question on everyone’s mind is whether this really is the end of the line for Ethan Hunt. Cruise teased, "This is called 'Final Reckoning.' I'm not gonna give anything away, audiences have to go see it. But I'm very excited for people to see it." Intriguing, right?

Mark your calendars! The action-packed adventure hits theaters on Friday, May 23, with an early IMAX showing on Thursday. You won’t want to miss this one!

The film is brought to you by Skydance and Paramount Pictures, with Paramount being the parent company of CBS. So, you know it’s gonna be a big deal!
