Golden State Valkyries Set to Battle Las Vegas Aces on CBS
The Golden State Valkyries will clash with the Las Vegas Aces this Saturday in a highly anticipated WNBA game broadcast live on CBS.
After a challenging start to their four-game road trip, which included defeats against the top-ranked Minnesota Lynx and the Atlanta Dream, the Valkyries (10-9) bounced back with a decisive 80-61 victory over the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis. This win marked a significant moment, as it coincided with the return of star player Caitlin Clark from a groin injury, though she was limited to just 10 points during the game.
Veronica Burton emerged as the standout performer for Golden State, scoring 21 points, while WNBA All-Star Kayla Thornton contributed 18 points to the team's success.
This upcoming matchup against Las Vegas (9-10) is particularly noteworthy, as it comes five weeks after the Valkyries delivered a stunning 95-68 defeat to the Aces at the Chase Center in San Francisco. In that game on June 7, both Thornton and Burton, along with Monique Billings, recorded double-doubles, marking a historic first meeting between these two franchises.
Following their encounter with the Aces, the Valkyries will return to the Bay Area for a Monday night showdown against the Phoenix Mercury. Impressively, every home game during their inaugural season has sold out, showcasing the growing support for the team.
