Aug 21 2025

The 2025 US Open is set to take over New York City, bringing three weeks of thrilling tennis action. The USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens is already buzzing with qualifying matches, which kicked off earlier this week.

As the tournament officially begins on Sunday, August 24, anticipation builds around whether Jannik Sinner and Aryna Sabalenka can defend their singles titles from the previous year. Meanwhile, fan week, which started on August 21, offers a variety of activities including happy hours, autograph signings, and giveaways, as 128 men and women compete for their spots in the main draw.

Beyond singles competition, the US Open also features doubles, mixed doubles, junior doubles, and wheelchair divisions, making it a comprehensive showcase of tennis talent.

For those unable to attend in person, comprehensive coverage will be available through Tennis Channel and ESPN’s networks. Qualifying matches are being broadcast on ESPN2, ESPN News, and ESPN+, while the main draw will be featured on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC.

The tournament culminates with the women’s singles championship on Saturday, September 6, airing on ESPN, followed by the men’s title match on ABC the next day. All matches will also be streamable via ESPN+.

With hundreds of players vying for glory, notable challengers to Sinner and Sabalenka include Carlos Alcaraz, Ben Shelton, and Novak Djokovic for the men, while Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Madison Keys, Emma Raducanu, and Venus Williams represent the women’s side.

This year’s prize purse has reached an impressive $90 million—a 20 percent increase from 2024. Each singles champion will receive $5 million, while doubles and mixed doubles winners will take home $1 million each.

Last year, fans indulged in over 550,000 Honey Deuces at the US Open. Since becoming the tournament's official cocktail in 2011, Grey Goose reports sales exceeding 2.8 million. While these refreshing drinks cost $23 at the venue, you can easily recreate one at home with this simple recipe:

1 ¼ oz Vodka3 oz Lemonade½ oz Raspberry liqueur3 Honeydew melon balls (to resemble tennis balls)

Prepare to enjoy a summer filled with tennis excitement as the US Open unfolds!
