MrBeast Faces Backlash for Controversial Joke About Buying $4M Breaking Bad House

Jan 06 2025

YouTuber Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson has found himself in hot water after a now-deleted post sparked backlash regarding the possibility of fans winning the house famously used as Walter White’s residence in the hit series Breaking Bad.

It has been more than a decade since Breaking Bad concluded its highly acclaimed television run. The show bid farewell to characters like Walter White, Mike, and others in its final season, while Jesse and Saul Goodman ventured into new beginnings.

Over the years, enthusiasts of the iconic series have made pilgrimages to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to explore various filming locations, with Walter White’s house standing out as a significant attraction.

The property is currently on the market with a hefty $4 million price tag. However, the family selling the house has shared unsettling accounts of fans showing up at all hours, creating disturbances.

The prospect of the house being sold has naturally stirred up considerable attention on social media, including from MrBeast. Nevertheless, the YouTuber faced criticism for jesting about potentially gifting it to a fan.

In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Donaldson quipped, “First person to make a meth lab in the garage wins the house,” a statement that did not sit well with many followers.

The deleted post triggered a wave of disapproval from fans. One individual remarked, “You’re not fooling anyone with the meth lab comment,” while another expressed, “@MrBeast is promoting the idea of starting a meth lab... This is a new low for him!”

Several fans also highlighted that the current owners, the Quintana family, who have resided in the house for over five decades, had to erect a fence to safeguard their privacy and security due to the influx of visitors.

Despite the backlash, MrBeast has not directly addressed the situation, although he has remained active on social media, engaging with other posts. The incident seems to have been a misjudged attempt at humor that backfired.

While MrBeast’s post may have missed the mark with some fans, it serves as a reminder of the fine line content creators walk when using humor, especially on sensitive topics. The incident underscores the importance of considering the potential impact of statements, even in a lighthearted context.
