Kai Cenat's Twitch Prank on Valkyrae Sparks Controversy and Potential Ban
Kai Cenat has found himself in hot water after a recent incident on Twitch where he urged his followers to flood Valkyrae's chat with a provocative message, potentially putting his Twitch account at risk.
Valkyrae, a prominent content creator and co-owner of 100 Thieves, made a return to Twitch in January after a successful stint on YouTube. Her streams have garnered significant attention, drawing in tens of thousands of viewers each time she goes live.
The controversy unfolded on January 11 when Kai Cenat, while reacting to various Twitch streamers, directed his audience to spam Valkyrae's chat with the phrase "Valkyrae got leaked." This directive was met with resistance from his viewers, with many expressing confusion and reluctance to participate.
Despite the pushback from his audience, Cenat persisted, exclaiming, "Tell her she got leaked. Say ‘Valk got leaked.’ Say ‘Valkyrae got leaked’ [in her chat]." Subsequently, he moved on to watch another streamer after his initial request was not fulfilled.
Following the incident, a clip of Kai's actions circulated on social media, triggering a wave of criticism from users across various platforms. One post highlighting the viral clip noted, "Kai Cenat told his chat to spam ‘Valkyrae got leaked’ in her chat, but they said no, because she’s too wholesome."

Responses to the clip were swift, with many condemning Kai's behavior and questioning his motives. Comments ranged from labeling his actions as "weird" to questioning his overall conduct as a streamer.
Despite the negative feedback, Valkyrae appeared to take the prank attempt in stride. In a post on X, she hinted at plotting a counter-prank against Kai, stating, "I was trying to think of a reverse prank to get Kai Cenat back, but after seeing the clip, I already won the prank war lol." She also addressed the incident during one of her streams, expressing her surprise at the refusal of Kai's chat to engage in the spamming and indicating her appreciation for the support.

While the prank may have been intended in jest, Twitch's Community Guidelines on harassment are clear. The platform prohibits streamers from encouraging viewers to target others with abuse, including organizing or participating in hostile raids or directing personal attacks towards individuals.
Notably, in a past incident in 2022, Twitch streamer JiDion faced a permanent ban for instructing his viewers to spam another streamer's chat with derogatory messages, resulting in the abrupt end of the targeted stream. However, JiDion was eventually reinstated on the platform in May 2024 after a prolonged ban.
