YouTube "Pimp" Tiffany Smith Settles Sexual Abuse Lawsuit for $1.85M
Former employer of YouTube’s ‘Piper Squad,’ Tiffany Smith, has reached a settlement in a sexual abuse lawsuit, agreeing to pay $1.85 million to resolve the claims brought against her.
The lawsuit, filed by 11 individuals associated with the ‘Piper Squad’ on YouTube, accused Smith, the mother of YouTube star Piper Rockelle, of sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The plaintiffs alleged that Smith engaged in inappropriate behavior and attempted to sabotage their YouTube careers after they ceased working with her daughter.
Court documents revealed disturbing details, with accusations that Smith coerced the group into creating inappropriate content and subjected them to psychological abuse. One member of the Piper Squad claimed that Smith had physically assaulted her by repeatedly spanking her and touching her inappropriately.
Further allegations included Smith sending her daughter's used underwear to someone, making inappropriate comments about the minors' bodies, and referring to herself as the "pimp" and "madam" of YouTube.
Attorney Matt Sarelson, representing the plaintiffs, described the case as one of the most complex and high-profile of his career. He emphasized the importance of understanding the nature of the content produced by the Piper Squad, highlighting the scripted relationships and interactions between young children featured in the videos.
On October 10, 2024, the case was settled out of court, with Smith initially facing a $22 million lawsuit but ultimately agreeing to the $1.85 million settlement. Angela Sharron, a parent of one of the Piper Squad members, expressed that the lawsuit aimed to raise awareness about potential predators in the industry and hold those responsible for harming their children accountable.
Despite the legal proceedings, Smith's daughter continues to maintain an active presence on YouTube and TikTok, amassing a combined following of 25 million. However, Smith herself has remained absent from recent social media posts.
