Sydney Sweeney's Hilarious Response to Oregon Ducks Mascot's Sign Request

Oct 13 2024

Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in Euphoria, recently found herself at the center of a playful exchange during the University of Oregon's football game against the Ohio State University Buckeyes. The Oregon Ducks' mascot made a humorous sign requesting Sweeney to call back, leading to a lighthearted response from the actress.

During the game, High Potential star Kaitlin Olson, an Oregon alum and guest ESPN picker, was discussing her excitement for the matchup when the Ducks' mascot photobombed her on camera with a sign that read, "Sydney Sweeney, call me back."

Sweeney, 27, caught wind of the mascot's plea and took to her Instagram Story to craft a witty reply. "Sorry. Changed my number haha," the actress captioned a screenshot of the broadcast, showcasing her sense of humor.

While it remains unknown if Sweeney tuned in to watch the game, Olson, 49, expressed her enthusiasm for the day, reminiscing about her college days at the University of Oregon. "Guys, this is my college. That's right, this is my place," Olson shared. "I love it here. I went to college here, my family went to college here, I lost my virginity here—sorry about that, Dad—my fake I.D. was taken away... Oregon Ducks, all the way! Oregon Ducks, all day long."

Olson, best known for her role in It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, confidently predicted a win for the Ducks, stating, "I'm picking Oregon. I don't bet against primetime." Her prediction proved accurate as the Ducks triumphed over the Buckeyes with a score of 32-31.

Aside from her football predictions, Olson is currently leading ABC's crime drama High Potential. Initially hesitant to show episodes to her husband, Rob McElhenney, Olson shared her relief when he loved the show. The couple, married since 2008 and parents to two sons, both have a critical eye for entertainment projects.

Reflecting on her character in High Potential, Olson expressed her excitement, stating, "At the heart of it is this beautiful character who's so strange and unique and complex and so uniquely herself and unapologetically a wonderful mom." The actress's portrayal of Morgan in the crime drama has garnered praise from viewers.

High Potential airs on ABC on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET, offering audiences a captivating storyline and engaging characters. Olson's journey from comedic roles to a dramatic crime series showcases her versatility as an actress, captivating audiences with each episode.
