Epic Comeback: Knicks Rally from 19 Down to Stun Heat in Overtime
In a nail-biting showdown, Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks to a stunning 116-112 overtime victory over the Miami Heat, overcoming a daunting 19-point deficit on Sunday night. Brunson was on fire, scoring 31 points and proving to be the driving force behind the Knicks' comeback.
Joining him in the spotlight, OG Anunoby contributed 23 points, while Karl Anthony Towns made a significant impact with 19 points and 16 rebounds. This victory marks the Knicks' third consecutive win, showcasing their resilience and determination.
Brunson's pivotal 3-pointer with just 2:27 left in overtime shifted the momentum, putting New York ahead 111-110 and igniting a 7-0 run that sealed the game. Although Miami managed to close the gap to 114-112 with a 3-pointer from Alec Burks in the final seconds, Anunoby's dunk with 17 seconds remaining ensured the Knicks' victory.
Bam Adebayo was the standout for Miami, scoring 30 points, while Tyler Herro added 22. Rookie Kel'el Ware also made his mark with 12 points and a career-high six blocks, showcasing his defensive prowess.
The Knicks faced a tough battle, trailing by 17 points at halftime and again midway through the third quarter. However, they rallied back, ending the third with a 17-5 run and erasing an 11-point deficit early in the fourth. Miles McBride's jumper gave them their first lead at 101-100 with just under three minutes left in regulation.
On the injury front, the Heat were without Andrew Wiggins for the second straight game due to a sprained right ankle. Jaime Jaquez Jr., who stepped in for Wiggins against Indiana, also missed the game due to an ankle sprain.
With the game tied and just a minute left in the fourth, the Knicks executed a quick four-point play, forcing overtime thanks to Anunoby's tip-in and Brunson's clutch jumper. Despite being outscored by 20 points in the paint at halftime, the Knicks flipped the script, finishing with a 58-56 advantage through overtime.
Looking ahead, the Knicks are set to host the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night, while the Heat will face off against the Washington Wizards on Monday night.
