NBA Brawl: Timberwolves and Pistons Players Face Suspensions After Wild Fight

Apr 01 2025

The NBA has taken action following a chaotic brawl between the Minnesota Timberwolves and Detroit Pistons, resulting in suspensions for five players. The incident, which escalated into the stands, occurred during a game on Sunday night.

Isaiah Stewart of the Pistons received the harshest penalty, facing a two-game suspension due to his "repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts," as stated by the league. Teammates Ron Holland II and Marcus Sasser will each sit out for one game, alongside Minnesota's Naz Reid and Donte DiVincenzo, who also received one-game suspensions.

All five players were ejected from the game, which was already heated, with a total of 12 technical fouls issued—marking the highest number in an NBA game since 2005. The tension peaked in the second quarter after Stewart and Holland were called for back-to-back fouls.

At the time of the brawl, the Timberwolves were trailing the Pistons 39-30. However, Minnesota managed to turn the game around, ultimately winning 123-104.

In addition to the player suspensions, both Detroit head coach J.B. Bickerstaff and Wolves assistant coach Pablo Prigioni were ejected for their heated exchanges during the altercation.
