A Brazilian bikini model had to show her genitals to prove she is not transgender after Morocco arrest

A bikini model, Liziane Gutierrez, recently recounted a distressing experience where she was mistakenly accused of being transgender and subjected to a humiliating ordeal by authorities in Morocco. The Brazilian influencer, known for her legal dispute with rapper Chris Brown, found herself in a nightmarish situation after filming a policeman in Marrakesh.

Gutierrez, who boasts a substantial following of 1.5 million on Instagram, revealed that she spent a month behind bars following the incident. Before being transferred to a women's prison, she was compelled to undergo a degrading genital inspection to prove her gender identity.

Speaking from Italy after her release, Gutierrez expressed her profound humiliation, stating, "The jail was a nightmare when I first got there. They thought I was a transsexual, so I had to open my legs in front of two women and two men. I never felt so humiliated in my life. And they were looking up inside me like a doctor or whatever, and I was just crying."

Her ordeal began when her bag was stolen outside her hotel in Marrakesh on October 30, containing her phone and her husband's work phone. Despite her husband retaining his personal phone, the couple attempted to track the stolen devices. Upon locating one of the phones the next day, they sought assistance from a nearby policeman, only to be met with indifference.

Recounting the events, Gutierrez shared, "We saw these guys with the police car near the hotel and we went to contact them. And we don't speak Arabic, we don't speak French, so I was trying to communicate in English and with Google Translate. They were just ignoring us. So I grabbed the phone and I started to record them, to show to people: if you're a tourist in Marrakesh and you need police, they're just going to ignore you. When I did that, they handcuffed me and my husband, and they threw us in a police car and took us to the police station."

Following her arrest, the Brazilian embassy confirmed the situation to a celebrity news website in Brazil. While her husband was released after one night upon surrendering the phone's password used to record the officers, Gutierrez's ordeal was far from over.

She was subsequently moved to a holding facility, which she described as "complete hell," highlighting overcrowding, unsanitary conditions, and inadequate ventilation. After enduring these conditions for a day and a half, she was transferred to a larger prison where she remained for a month post-arrest.

Describing the harrowing conditions in the prison, Gutierrez shared, "It was supposed to be like 10 people and it was like 20 again. We had to sleep on the floor. The bathroom was just like a hole in the floor. There is food just like once a day, and they serve bread. And the temperature goes from really hot to really cold."

Despite her extensive travels to destinations like North Korea and war-torn Ukraine, Gutierrez labeled her Moroccan ordeal as the most dreadful experience. She emphasized, "I know that I'm not a person that is easy to deal with. But at that time, I did nothing wrong. I was just trying to get help. I was in a country that didn't speak good English, I don't know nobody there but my husband, so I was just trying to look for help."

Expressing her distress, Gutierrez stated, "I would rather go to North Korea 10 times again than come back to Morocco. I was more respected in North Korea than in Morocco." The Moroccan authorities have been approached for comment regarding the incident.

Notably, Gutierrez had previously received compensation of around $70,000 after alleging in 2016 that a member of Chris Brown's entourage had assaulted her at a party in Las Vegas. The altercation reportedly occurred when Brown accused her of taking his photo at a luxury party, leading to a legal dispute where Gutierrez claimed defamation after Brown made derogatory remarks about her appearance.
