Karoline Leavitt Reappears with Cross Pendant After South Park Parody
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt donned her familiar silver cross necklace once more, a notable return after a brief absence that followed a satirical portrayal of her on South Park.
Leavitt, who has often sported the pendant as a symbol of her Christian faith and conservative values, has been a prominent figure in the Trump administration, known for her controversial statements during press briefings.
In recent television appearances, however, the cross was conspicuously absent, prompting speculation among social media users about whether she was distancing herself from the symbol during challenging times.
“Notice @PressSec @karolineleavitt wasn’t wearing her cross necklace as she lied to the nation,” remarked one user on July 7, as Leavitt faced mounting pressure regarding the release of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged client list.
Another commentator expressed their thoughts in a July 26 post, shortly after the South Park episode aired, stating, “Karoline Leavitt can wear twenty crosses, go to church a hundred times a week, preach about her Christian values, but her actual truth is that she serves a lying, cheating abomination and lies every day to support him.”
On August 12, another observer noted Leavitt's apparent tension at the podium and suggested that her wardrobe choices reflected a shift in her demeanor. “I like her lighter persona. Not so urgent Ms. Leavitt. Still got over 3 years remaining,” they commented.
Leavitt's consistent choice to wear the cross has made her a recognizable figure within Trump’s circle, further highlighted by her depiction in the premiere episode of South Park’s 27th season.
In one scene, Leavitt is easily identifiable by her blonde hair and purple pantsuit as she informs Trump of the Canadian prime minister's arrival. In another moment, her character implores Trump to address an upset caller regarding religious messaging in schools: “Sir, can you please talk to them? They’re really riled up,” she pleads.
Trump’s dismissive response, “Hey, relax god,” seemingly directed at God himself, adds to the humor of the scene.
The press has reached out to Leavitt for clarification on her recent jewelry choices and whether she plans to continue wearing the cross during future press briefings.
