Long Island Officer Indicted for Sexual Assaults Linked to Dating Apps

May 22 2025

A Suffolk County police officer, George Trimigliozzi, 56, has been indicted on charges of sexual assault involving two women he met through dating apps. Prosecutors allege that he exploited his badge to gain their trust before committing the assaults following their initial dates.

Trimigliozzi, who has been suspended from the force and is a father of two, now faces felony charges of first-degree sexual abuse and third-degree rape stemming from incidents in Patchogue and Hampton Bays during 2021 and 2022. “Police officers swear an oath to protect us,” stated Suffolk District Attorney Raymond Tierney, emphasizing the gravity of the allegations.

In a Riverhead courtroom, Trimigliozzi, an 18-year veteran previously recognized by the Secret Service, appeared in handcuffs and pleaded not guilty to the charges. The first incident reportedly occurred in May 2021 when he met a woman identified as Jane Doe #1 on a dating site. After their date, he invited her into his car for a conversation, but allegedly began groping her once inside. When she attempted to escape, he blocked her exit by slamming the door shut.

The second alleged assault took place in June 2022 involving another woman, Jane Doe #2. After picking her up on his motorcycle, she invited him into her home, believing he was too intoxicated to drive. Once inside, he requested a tour of her apartment and subsequently forced her into non-consensual sex in her bedroom.

During the bail hearing, Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei set bail at $100,000 bond, which was lower than the $200,000 requested by prosecutors. Defense attorney William Keahon argued that Trimigliozzi had complied with previous court appearances related to a separate prostitution case and claimed the indictment lacked substantial evidence.

Keahon described Trimigliozzi as a decorated officer with multiple accolades, including five officer of the month awards and a record number of arrests in a single year. If convicted of the new charges, he faces up to seven years in prison as these are classified as violent felonies.

This latest indictment adds to the ongoing scandal surrounding Trimigliozzi, who was previously charged in connection with a prostitution ring operating out of two Long Island locations, including the infamous mob-run “American Girls Spa.” Alongside three co-defendants, he is accused of laundering nearly $2 million from these brothels and coercing sex workers into signing leases for rooms where they were compensated solely through tips.

The investigation into Trimigliozzi began in 2021 when he responded to a robbery at a Holbrook brothel while in uniform, despite lacking jurisdiction there. This incident raised suspicions and initiated a lengthy corruption investigation, during which prosecutors allege he received tips about illegal activities from a worker at the spa.

At the time of his arrest in October 2024, Trimigliozzi had already been suspended without pay due to unrelated misconduct allegations. He is scheduled to return to court Thursday, although that date may be postponed. The sex abuse case will proceed alongside the ongoing prostitution and corruption case, where Trimigliozzi faces over a dozen felony charges, potentially leading to decades in prison if convicted on all counts.
