Minnesota United Players Dayne St. Claire and Michael Boxall Selected for All-Star Team

Minnesota United has officially announced the selection of Dayne St. Claire and Michael Boxall to the all-star team, a notable recognition for both players.

Boxall was in the midst of a routine practice session when he received the news, delivered by children from a non-profit organization he supports. "Boxy" is now an all-star.

"I wasn't expecting it," Boxall remarked, reflecting on the surprise. "I saw them before training. I've seen them a lot over the years. When they unveiled the sign, that was pretty cool. Pretty special."

At 36, this marks Boxall's first all-star selection, a milestone 14 years after his debut in Major League Soccer.

"I've never been disappointed when I haven't made it," he stated. "So, I think making it doesn't really ring like the opposite of that. Me being there feels more like a team award."

Wil Trapp, a midfielder for United, praised Boxall's consistency: "To be able to do it day in and day out for 15 years and have the lack of injuries is pretty remarkable."

Originally from New Zealand, Boxall joined Minnesota United in 2017 and has since accumulated the most appearances of any player in the MLS era for the team.

"This year he's gone on to another level in what is a really important time for him," said United manager Eric Ramsay. "He's staring down the barrel of a World Cup. He's a really important part of a team that's competing at the top end of the table."

In an uncharacteristic display of emotion, Boxall celebrated the news with his family on the training field, embracing his wife and two children.

"Just unexpected," he expressed. "Everything I do is for my kids. So, seeing them happy for me is pretty cool."
