Mississippi Mortician Accused of Hiding Bodies in Storage Unit to Keep Burial Business Running
A mortician in Mississippi is making headlines for all the wrong reasons after he was accused of hiding human bodies in a storage unit. Albert Creath, 31, the former owner of Creath Memorial Services, which is now out of business, reportedly used iStorage facilities in Greenville, Mississippi, to continue providing burial and funeral services, according to reports.

Authorities made a grim discovery on March 25 when they found the remains of three individuals inside one of the storage units. Washington County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Billy Barber confirmed that Creath has been charged with improper desecration of a corpse, a serious offense that raises numerous ethical and legal questions.
After losing his business and license, Creath allegedly resorted to using the storage units as a way to keep his funeral services afloat. This shocking turn of events has left many in the community reeling, as the integrity of funeral services is paramount in times of grief.
Interestingly, Creath Memorial Services had a TikTok account that once touted the business as “The Hallmark of Professional Services.” The last video posted on the account was in August 2024, and several videos featured sensitive content, including footage of deceased individuals inside caskets. This raises further questions about the ethical practices of the business and the treatment of the deceased.

According to online records from the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office, Creath’s limited liability corporation was administratively dissolved on December 1, 2024, after he failed to re-register. This dissolution adds another layer of complexity to the situation, as it suggests that Creath was operating without the necessary legal permissions.
In a recent development, a local judge granted Creath a $600,000 bond, allowing him to remain free while the investigation continues. Greenville Mayor Errick D. Simmons commented on the situation, stating that the bodies may have been discovered during an attempted burglary at the storage unit. “Deputies had actually been to that particular storage because they had reported some burglaries, so there’s a chance the burglars could’ve actually run upon it,” Simmons explained, though the exact circumstances remain unclear.

Mayor Simmons emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, expressing his concern over the disturbing discovery. “The discovery of human remains in a storage unit in our city is deeply disturbing and raises serious concerns that demand a thorough investigation. My thoughts and prayers are with the families who may be affected by this tragic situation,” he stated.
He further added, “Greenville is a community that values dignity, respect, and the rule of law. We will not tolerate any actions that violate those principles. I urge anyone with information to come forward and assist authorities in their investigation.”
