MMA Fighter Arrested on Child Sex Crime Charges Ahead of UFC Debut

Apr 21 2025
Sacramento, CA — Ahmad Hassanzada, a 28-year-old mixed martial arts fighter, has been charged with child sex crimes just days before his planned UFC debut, according to jail records obtained by the Sacramento Bee. The Team Alpha Male lightweight, who earned a UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in September, turned himself in to authorities over the weekend.
Hassanzada faces two felony counts: lewd acts with a child under 14 and lewd acts with a child aged 14 or 15, where the defendant is at least 10 years older than the victim. Sacramento police, citing the case’s “sensitive nature,” confirmed the charges stem from an investigation launched early last year but provided no further details. Hassanzada’s bail is set at $400,000, with an arraignment scheduled for Tuesday.
The 6-foot-1-inch fighter, based at Urijah Faber’s Ultimate Fitness gym in Sacramento, was slated to face 32-year-old Mitch Ramirez on April 26 in Kansas City, as announced in an Instagram post earlier this year. While Hassanzada’s debut remains listed for April 26, 2025, on the UFC’s official website, he is conspicuously absent from Saturday’s fight card.

The allegations have rocked the MMA community, and the UFC has yet to issue a statement. Attempts to reach the organization for comment are ongoing.
