NBA Rising Star Antonio Reeves Hosts Youth Camp in Chicago

On Sunday, the basketball court at Jackson Park buzzed with energy as Antonio Reeves, a promising NBA talent, took center stage. The Chicago native, recently signed to a two-way contract with the Charlotte Hornets, organized his first youth basketball camp, aiming to inspire the next generation.

Reeves, a product of Simeon Career Academy, guided a group of enthusiastic young players through various drills and scrimmages. Notably, he was joined by Arne Duncan, former U.S. Education Secretary and CEO of Chicago Public Schools, who lent his support to the event.

“It’s all about having fun,” Reeves emphasized, reflecting on the camp's purpose. “Basically just come out and have fun, to be honest, you know, just give back to the community is my main thing.” His words resonated with the kids eager to learn from someone who has made it to the professional level.

Reeves' journey to the NBA began when he was selected by the New Orleans Pelicans in the 2024 NBA Draft as the 47th overall pick after a standout career at the University of Kentucky. Before that, he spent two seasons at Illinois State, showcasing his skills and determination.

However, his time with the Pelicans was short-lived; they waived him earlier this month. Just days later, the Hornets recognized his potential and signed him, marking a new chapter in his professional career.
