Paul Pierce Attributes Modern Beauty Standards to Kim Kardashian
“Give me the Kim K.,” is a phrase that resonates with many women today, according to former NBA star Paul Pierce. The 48-year-old athlete expressed his views on the impact of Kim Kardashian on beauty standards during a recent episode of his podcast, “The Truth After Dark.”
Pierce stated, “I blame Kim Kardashian for the women we see today,” highlighting how he believes her influence has shaped the physical aspirations of many. He elaborated, “What we glorify on TV when we see these beautiful women with big old sexy lips and these big old eyelashes and eyebrows and butt and lips banging out the window.”
He continued to assert Kardashian's significant role in popularizing cosmetic enhancements, saying, “She is one of the most influential women that ever lived and you know she had the plastic surgeries and made it cool to do that. I feel like every girl looks like Kim.”
Kardashian, now 45, has openly discussed undergoing minor cosmetic procedures, including Botox and treatments for post-pregnancy stretch marks. However, she has consistently denied having undergone major alterations to her facial features. “I never had my nose done,” she stated during a Masterclass session in February 2019. “Everyone thought I did, and I said wait until I have kids because your real features come out.”
In a 2022 interview with Allure magazine, she reiterated her stance on cosmetic enhancements, claiming, “I’ve never had eyelash extensions. I’ve never done anything. I have a drop of mascara on today. I’ve never filled my cheeks. I’ve never filled my lips.”
Despite Kardashian’s statements regarding her cosmetic choices, Pierce remained firm in his beliefs during the podcast. “Like, damn, everybody wants the straight black hair and the lips and the curvy booty and the eyelashes,” he remarked. “I blame her for the way our girls are, but now they get out of control with it.”
He added that many women are now overdoing their enhancements, leading to what he perceives as extreme results. “They’re like, ‘Give me the Kim K.’ But now they OD it and now they start looking crazy,” he said. “She is really the reason why the women look the way they look today. Good or bad. That’s just what I feel.”
Kardashian, who shares four children with ex-husband Kanye West, has acknowledged her dedication to maintaining her appearance. “I really genuinely care about looking good,” she told Allure. “I probably care more than 90 percent of the people on this planet.”
She also shared insights into her beauty regimen, stating that she often engages in treatments late at night after her children are asleep. “There does come a point when you’ve taken it too far,” she noted, discussing the risks of excessive cosmetic work.
Despite her careful approach to beauty, Kardashian has expressed a desire to maintain a youthful appearance. “If you told me that I literally had to eat poop every single day and I would look younger, I might,” she quipped in a 2022 interview with The New York Times. “I just might.”
