PewDiePie Goes All In: Building a Dream Home in Japan!
YouTube superstar PewDiePie, known for his engaging content and massive following, is officially putting down roots in Japan. The popular creator, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, has revealed that he has purchased land in the country to build a dream home for his growing family.
PewDiePie made the move to Japan in 2022, and in 2023, he and his wife Marzia welcomed their first child, a son named Bjorn. While many foreign influencers have made Japan their home, the couple faced the challenge of being far from their families, who reside in Europe and America. This distance led them to contemplate relocating closer to their support network.
However, in a vlog shared on April 11, 2025, Kjellberg announced his decision to stay in Japan for the long haul. He excitedly shared that he had successfully purchased land after a year of searching for the perfect spot to build their new home.
During the vlog, PewDiePie took his viewers on a tour of a construction company, showcasing the various safety tests conducted on materials like insulation and lumber. He even provided a sneak peek of the land they acquired, which was covered with a black plastic tarp at the time of filming.
While he mentioned that construction would begin in late October, it remains unclear whether he was referring to 2025 or if the footage was recorded in 2024. “Everything is moving very fast, but really good,” he expressed. “We’re super excited. It’s gonna be amazing. We looked for land for like a year until we found one.”
In the vlog, Kjellberg also shared an initial design for their family home, which features a theater room, a sunken living room, and a special outdoor area for their dogs. This announcement comes just a month after he revealed that he and Marzia had decided to remain in Japan after grappling with the idea of moving closer to family.
“In many ways, Japan makes no sense, because we’re so far away from family. We are far from friends that we miss back home,” he admitted in a vlog from March 14. “It’s made it very difficult, because we love living in Japan so much. …trying to come up with a decision has been so difficult, but we finally decided, and we decided that we’re staying.”
With their commitment to Japan solidified, it seems the Kjellbergs are in it for the long run. They are also expanding their family with the recent addition of a chihuahua-pug mix puppy named Momo, further solidifying their ties to their new home.
