Phillies Fans Rally to Send Bat Boy Adam Crognale to 2025 All-Star Game
Citizens Bank Park, a historic venue for baseball legends like Chase Utley and Ryan Howard, is now the stage for a unique opportunity. This year, the Philadelphia Phillies are sending two players, Zack Wheeler and Kyle Schwarber, to the All-Star Game at Truist Park in Atlanta.
However, there’s a chance for one more representative from the team—Adam Crognale, the bat boy, who has captured the hearts of fans during his five seasons with the organization.
Voting is open until Tuesday at 11:59 p.m., allowing fans to support Crognale's bid to join the All-Star festivities. "It's a pretty unique thing MLB started last year, called the All-Star Ball Crew," Crognale explained. "They combine good plays made by ball boys and girls, and this year, they included some bat boys." His selection as a finalist stems from impressive highlights showcased by the Phillies.
Reflecting on a standout moment, Crognale recalled, "Schwarber hit a chopper that was coming toward the dugout. My instant reaction was to jump up and catch the ball, preventing it from going into the dugout or hitting someone." This quick thinking exemplifies his dedication to the game.
For Crognale, representing the Phillies on such a grand stage is a dream. "I know I'm living the dream of some 8 or 10-year-old kid in the stands," he said. "It's a dream come true; I don’t take it for granted." His commitment extends beyond personal ambition; he aims to support the players in their quest for victory.
As fans rally behind Crognale, they not only celebrate his contributions but also embrace the spirit of community that defines Philadelphia baseball.
