Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Races into Final Weekend

"It's kind of exciting to hear that roar, isn't it?" remarked Saundra King from Waynesburg, capturing the electric atmosphere of the day.

While some attendees come simply for the enjoyment, others have a personal stake in the races. "We have a car out there, so we want to see it run," said Gary Boffo from Wellsville, Ohio, highlighting the passion that drives many participants.

For many, this event is a rare opportunity to experience racing in the scenic setting of Schenley Park. "We were here about 7 o'clock this morning," shared John Black from Moon Township, emphasizing the dedication of fans who arrive early to soak in the excitement.

Others take pride in showcasing their meticulously crafted vehicles. "Some of us can't afford to buy a fast car, so we make them," Black explained, reflecting the creativity and resourcefulness of car enthusiasts.

The Grand Prix also plays a crucial role in supporting local charities. "This represents a significant portion of the money we use to help our community," stated Jesse Torisky, president and CEO of Autism Pittsburgh, underscoring the event's philanthropic impact.

Funds raised during the event come from various sources, including what attendees affectionately refer to as their "candy store." "Most of us like fast cars," Black noted, pointing to the shared passion that unites everyone at the venue.

As the weekend draws to a close, Sunday promises another day filled with festivities starting at 8:30 a.m. and continuing until 5 p.m., ensuring that the excitement of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix remains alive until the very end.
