Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix Set to Rev Up with New Routes

This weekend, Schenley Park transforms into a vibrant hub of automotive excitement as the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix races kick off, featuring fresh routes for this year’s event.

Anticipation builds as the park prepares to showcase an impressive array of both vintage and modern cars, marking the culmination of a week-long celebration. This year marks the 43rd iteration of the Grand Prix, inviting newcomers and seasoned fans alike to experience thrilling sports car races, a massive car show boasting over 3,000 vehicles, and a variety of engaging activities designed for all ages.

Among the highlights are two newly introduced course routes, including the 2-Mile UPMC Schenley Oval Circuit. With the Panther Hollow Bridge closed, the revised track merges classic racing sections with innovative turns and elevation changes, featuring the iconic hay bale chicane and the Boulevard of the Allies straights, along with designated fan zones within the oval.

Additionally, a 1-Mile Hillclimb will commence near Phipps Conservatory, ascending West Circuit Drive and concluding near the historic Neil Log House. Spectators can find prime viewing locations at the Vietnam Veterans Pavilion and the Schenley Overlook, ensuring an optimal vantage point for all the action.

As preparations unfold, attendees should note that various road closures will affect access in and around the park. The Schenley Pool will remain closed through Sunday, while the Bob O'Connor Golf Course will be unavailable throughout the weekend due to the festivities.

The vintage races are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Admission is priced at $10 per person, with proceeds benefiting Autism Pittsburgh and the Merakey Allegheny Valley School.
