Rain Delays Guardians-Twins Showdown Again: What’s Next?
So, here we go again! The Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins were all set to hit the field on Tuesday, but guess what? Rain had other plans. Yep, the series opener got suspended the night before, and now they’re stuck in a weather-related limbo.
The Twins decided to call off what would’ve been a sort of doubleheader about three hours before they were supposed to pick up the suspended game from Monday. Honestly, it’s a bummer for fans who were looking forward to some baseball action.
Now, the Guardians and Twins are gearing up to try again on Wednesday afternoon to finish that first game, which was halted due to steady rain. At that point, the Twins were leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth inning. Fingers crossed for better weather!
As for the originally scheduled game on Wednesday, it’ll kick off a half-hour after they wrap up the suspended game. And just to keep things interesting, the game that was supposed to happen on Tuesday will now be part of a split doubleheader on September 20. This means the Twins will have a packed schedule as they finish their final homestand of the season against the Guardians.

On the pitching side, the Twins were set to send Chris Paddack (1-3, 4.76 ERA) to the mound on Tuesday, facing off against Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams (3-2, 4.29 ERA). For Wednesday, the original probable starters were Twins right-hander Joe Ryan (4-2, 2.42 ERA) and Guardians right-hander Tanner Bibee (3-4, 4.06 ERA). Let’s hope the weather cooperates this time!
