Shedeur Sanders Faces Two Speeding Citations Post-NFL Draft
Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders has been cited for speeding on two occasions since his selection in the fifth round of the NFL Draft this past April.
On June 17, at 12:24 a.m., Strongsville police stopped Sanders for driving 101 mph in a 60 mph zone while behind the wheel of his Dodge TRX truck.
Earlier, on June 5, he was pulled over by the Ohio State Patrol in Brunswick Hills for traveling at 91 mph in a 65 mph zone, as reported by local news sources.
During a celebrity softball game hosted by Browns teammate David Njoku on June 19, Sanders addressed the incidents. “I know I be vibin’, bro. I’m just a little boy,” he remarked with a laugh. “I’ve made some wrong choices. Personally, I got to own up to them. I made some not great choices. I learn from them.”
Cleveland Browns spokesperson Peter John-Baptiste confirmed that Sanders was “taking care of the tickets” following the incidents.
By Friday morning, both citations had been settled, according to reports. Sanders paid $269 in fines and court fees for the June 5 incident and an additional $250 for the June 17 citation, which also resulted in four points on his driver’s license.
After unexpectedly falling to the fifth round, Sanders was chosen by the Browns as the 144th overall pick. Many analysts had anticipated he would be selected much earlier, potentially in the first round.

Reflecting on his draft experience, Sanders told supporters at a draft party, “We all didn’t expect this, of course. But, I feel like with God, anything is possible. Everything is possible. And I feel like this happened, you know, for no reason.”
He added, “All this is is of course fuel to the fire and under no circumstance we all know this shouldn’t have happened. But we understand we’re onto bigger and better things; tomorrow is the day. We’re gonna be happy regardless. Legendary.”
Currently, Sanders is vying for the starting quarterback position with veteran Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and third-round draft pick Dillon Gabriel from 2025.
Rookies are scheduled to report to Browns training camp on July 18 in Berea, Ohio.
