Sky Triumph Over Wings with Allen's Stellar Performance

Jul 10 2025

Rebecca Allen lit up the scoreboard with a season-high 27 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Chicago Sky secured an 87-76 victory over the Dallas Wings on Wednesday night. Her defensive prowess was evident as she also recorded three blocks during the game.

Angel Reese contributed significantly, notching her 13th double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Rachel Banham added 11 points to the Sky's total, helping the team improve to a 6-13 record.

For Dallas, Li Yueru was a standout performer, finishing with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Rookie All-Star Paige Bueckers struggled with her shooting, finishing with 17 points on 5-of-20 attempts, while JJ Quinerly added 16 points to the mix.

Li, standing at 6-foot-7, showcased her shooting ability by hitting 4 of 7 from beyond the arc, improving her season average significantly.

Chicago took control of the game during a pivotal 13-2 run, highlighted by Allen's two 3-pointers and a long jumper that pushed the lead to 67-57 with just over two minutes left in the third quarter.

Despite Quinerly's free throw narrowing the gap to six points late in the game, Reese responded decisively with a layup, followed by a rebound and a three-point play that sealed the game at 87-76.

This victory marked the Sky's third consecutive win over the Wings this season, having previously defeated them 97-92 on May 29 and 94-83 on May 31.

The Wings were missing key players due to injuries, including DiJonai Carrington (rib), Arike Ogunbowale (thumb), Maddy Siegrist (knee), and Tyasha Harris (knee).

At halftime, the Sky honored Allie Quigley by retiring her jersey number. Quigley, a local product from Joliet, Illinois, had a storied career at DePaul and spent ten seasons with Chicago, playing a crucial role in their first WNBA championship in 2021. Her No. 14 is now the first jersey retired by the franchise.

The Sky will face Minnesota next on Saturday, while the Wings conclude their three-game road trip against Indiana on Sunday.
