Taylor Swift Calls Out Male Sports Fans on 'New Heights' Podcast
Taylor Swift made waves once again, this time during her guest appearance on the “New Heights” podcast hosted by her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce. The episode, which aired on August 13, featured an enthusiastic introduction from Jason, who highlighted Swift's impressive achievements, including her record-breaking Eras Tour and the recent release of her album, The Tortured Poets Department.
“Thank you for screaming for, like, 47 seconds for me. That was so nice. That was so sweet,” Swift expressed to Jason while seated next to Travis. “Thanks for having me on my favorite podcast.”
In a light-hearted moment, Swift addressed the mixed feelings some NFL fans have about her presence in the sport. “As we all know, you guys have a lot of male sports fans that listen to your podcast. And I think we all know that if there’s one thing male sports fans want to see in their spaces and on their screens — it’s more of me,” she quipped.
Since publicly dating Travis in September 2023, Swift has become a familiar face at Kansas City Chiefs games, drawing in a new audience to the NFL. The league quickly capitalized on this increased attention, featuring her music in promotional materials and frequently showcasing her during games.
Reflecting on her relationship with Travis, Swift shared with TIME in December 2023, “I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in. There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast.” She added, “I’m just there to support Travis. I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads and Chads.”
Jason Kelce previously noted that the media coverage surrounding Swift is driven by audience demand. “The attention’s there because the audience wants to see it,” he stated in an interview. “If people didn’t want to see it, they wouldn’t be showing it. She’s a world star, the quintessential artist right now.”
He further emphasized that it would be “foolish” for the NFL not to showcase Swift cheering for Travis given the public interest in their relationship.
Swift’s appearance on “New Heights” has been highly anticipated and coincides with the announcement of her upcoming 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl. Fans were treated to glimpses of her playful interactions with Travis in a clip released on August 11.
“That’s such a great color on you,” Swift complimented Travis in another moment from the episode, to which he responded, “Yes, I know, it’s the color of your eyes, sweetie, that’s why we match so well.”
