Taylor Swift did not attend the Kansas City Chiefs' season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 5, 2025, held at Arena Corinthians in São Paulo, Brazil.
Fans had anticipated her presence to cheer for her fiancé, Travis Kelce, but she was noticeably missing from the event.
Since going public with their relationship in September 2023, Swift, 35, has frequently supported Kelce at his games. She was a constant presence during the previous season, including the Chiefs' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2025 Super Bowl.
Kelce, also 35, returned to the field just a week after announcing their engagement. The couple shared a playful Instagram post on August 26, stating, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The post featured images of Kelce proposing in a garden filled with flowers and Swift showcasing her stunning diamond ring, designed by Kindred Lubbock at Artifex Fine Jewelry.
A source revealed to Us Weekly that Kelce was very intentional about the ring's design. “Travis is incredibly thoughtful. He had a clear vision of what he wanted,” the source noted. “He chose it almost entirely on his own. He knows her so well and what she likes—a timeless, classic, vintage touch.”
Prior to their engagement, Swift made an appearance on the “New Heights” podcast hosted by Travis and his brother Jason Kelce. During the episode, she shared how her relationship with Travis sparked her newfound love for football.
“I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, ‘We drafted Xavier Worthy!’” she recalled, reflecting on her transformation. “My friends are like, ‘Who bodysnatched you? What do you mean?’”

Travis expressed gratitude for her enthusiasm, saying, “I am forever thankful for you diving into the football world wholeheartedly.” Despite her current passion for the sport, Swift admitted she had little knowledge of it when they first started dating.
“On our first date, I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl and he looked across the field and saw his brother standing five feet in front of him,” she recounted.
Swift commended Travis for his patience regarding her lack of football knowledge. “He didn’t even look at me. Like, I now know what an insane question that was,” she acknowledged. “He was like, ‘Actually, I’m on the offense and my brother’s on the offense, and I’m only on the field at the same time as the defense.’ I thought everyone was on the field at the same time.”
