Trump Discusses Fox News Hosts' Relationship During Live Interview
During a live phone interview on Fox & Friends, President Trump diverted from the planned discussion about the Russia-Ukraine conflict to comment on the personal life of co-host Ainsley Earhardt.
On Tuesday morning, Trump called into the show, where he was expected to address ongoing negotiations. Instead, he veered off-topic, expressing enthusiasm about Earhardt’s engagement to fellow network star Sean Hannity.
“There’s a guy named Sean Hannity, he might take a very lovely lady that he knows very, very well to dinner in Washington,” Trump said, referencing Earhardt, who was present during the call. The hosts responded with awkward laughter as Trump continued his off-script remarks.
Co-host Lawrence Jones attempted to steer the conversation back to serious matters, saying, “I don’t want to get her in trouble,” but Trump remained unfazed. “That’s the greatest relationship, I hope I’m not breaking any news,” he added, seemingly enjoying the moment.
Jones’ repeated interjections of “Mr. President, Mr. President” went unheard as Trump elaborated on the couple’s relationship. “This could be the most important thing I’ve said,” he remarked, praising both Earhardt and Hannity. “When they go out to dinner, I don’t want to see them get mugged.”
Returning to his original point about crime in Washington, Trump continued, “Now they can go out, they can hold hands, they can walk down the street. They’re both superstars; I want to know who makes more money because she’s gotta be making a lot, you know?”
Jones again tried to redirect the conversation, saying, “We’re so happy for them, but on a serious note, when you have those world leaders sitting in front of you...”
However, Trump was not finished discussing the couple. As the interview neared its conclusion, he reiterated his sentiments about Earhardt and Hannity. “Ainsley, I hope I didn’t get you in trouble. Just a great couple, I’ll say it! We love them. Have a great time, everybody!”
Earhardt and Hannity announced their engagement last December after Hannity proposed at church. The couple expressed gratitude for their families’ support during this significant time in their lives.
