President Trump has unveiled an ambitious plan to host a UFC championship fight on the White House grounds, potentially attracting up to 25,000 spectators. This event is set to coincide with the celebration of America’s 250th birthday.
“Does anybody watch UFC? The great Dana White? We’re going to have a UFC fight. We’re going to have a UFC fight — think of this — on the grounds of the White House,” Trump declared during his speech at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
While the idea of a cage match at such a historic site may raise eyebrows among critics, it presents an unconventional opportunity for Trump to connect with the public. “We have a lot of land there, we’re going to build a little — we’re not, Dana is going to do it. Dana is great, one of a kind — going to be UFC fight, championship fight, full fight, like 20,000 to 25,000 people, and we’re going to do that as part of ‘250’,” he elaborated.

Trump’s relationship with Dana White, the CEO of UFC, is well-known; he attended a recent fight in Newark featuring Merab Dvalishvili and Sean O’Malley. His attendance at a UFC event at Madison Square Garden shortly after winning the November 5 election included notable figures such as Elon Musk and House Speaker Mike Johnson.
The Iowa visit was intended as a launchpad for America250 events leading up to next year’s Independence Day. It also served as a platform for promoting Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” which had just passed, fulfilling promises to reduce taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security benefits.
During his lengthy address, Trump hinted at more than just the UFC fight. “We’re going to have some incredible events, some professional events, some amateur events. But the UFC fight is going to be a big deal, too,” he stated, outlining plans for “every one of our national parks, battlefields and historic sites” to host special events in honor of America250.

Among other initiatives, Trump announced a “Great American State Fair” in Iowa and across the nation, culminating in a grand patriotic festival next summer on the National Mall. This festival will showcase exhibits from all 50 states.
Additionally, he mentioned the official opening of the National Garden of American Heroes, an expansive outdoor park dedicated to statues of notable Americans throughout history. A sporting event dubbed the Patriot Games will feature top high school athletes from every state.
“Exactly one year from tomorrow, we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of America’s founding with a birthday party the likes of which you have never seen before,” Trump proclaimed. “Together, we’re going to ensure that America’s 250th anniversary is the single greatest year in the city of our country.”

New York City is also set to play a significant role in the semiquincentennial celebrations with Sail4th 250, a six-day event featuring over 30 tall ships from various international militaries, a Blue Angels flight show, and displays of rare historical documents.
This ambitious plan reflects Trump's strategy to engage with diverse audiences while celebrating a pivotal moment in American history.
