Turf Wars 2: A Night of Boxing and Entertainment at Highmark Stadium
Bill "Hutch" Hutchinson is set to host "Turf Wars 2" at Highmark Stadium this Saturday night, promising an electrifying evening of professional boxing paired with live entertainment.
The event features the University of Pittsburgh drumline and the Steelers' in-stadium DJ, creating a vibrant atmosphere for attendees. Hutchinson, who transitioned from law to boxing, headlined the inaugural event, where he delivered a knockout against Saul Corral in the fifth round before a packed audience.
This weekend, Hutchinson faces a new challenger, inviting the community to join in on this family-friendly spectacle that merges high-level boxing with engaging performances. "Feel free to bring the kids; we're going to have everyone from five-year-olds to 90-year-olds here," he remarked enthusiastically. "It's a great time, with everything you could imagine from the entertainment aspect, the performance aspect, and of course, the knockouts. Who doesn't want to see a great fight? It's a primal thing; everybody loves a fight, and the town loves a good fight. Everyone is going to love it this Saturday."
Tickets for Turf Wars 2 are currently available for purchase online. The action kicks off at 7 p.m. at Highmark Stadium.
Hutchinson, who has been in the boxing ring for over a decade, boasts an impressive record of 21 wins, 3 losses, and 4 draws. He has faced off against notable opponents, including world champion Adrien Broner. His journey into boxing began at a young age when his father took him to a Golden Gloves match. "It didn't work out very well for him because as soon as I saw those fights, I knew that's exactly what I want to do," Hutchinson recalled.
After spending several years in Florida, Hutchinson returned to Pittsburgh with a vision to elevate the sport locally. "Pittsburgh has a very rich history for combat sports and boxing in general, all the way back to Paul Spadafora, who was the world champ for many years and defended the title," he stated. "I would like to be the next evolution of that. Pittsburgh is very much a blue-collar, lunch pail kind of town, right? They get behind that grit and toughness. Even the reverence that there is for the Pittsburgh Steelers, that three yards and a cloud of dust, and that hard-nosed defense. The fans are going to appreciate and love the type of event that we're putting on."
