A'ja Wilson dominated the court Wednesday night, scoring a season-high 37 points and securing 10 rebounds, marking her eighth double-double of the season as the Las Vegas Aces edged out the Dallas Wings 90-86.
Wilson's impressive performance follows her previous outing where she tallied 34 points and 16 rebounds against Golden State. With a shooting accuracy of 15 for 25, she reached the 30-point mark for the fourth time this season, tying for the highest single-game score in the WNBA this year.
The Aces surged ahead in the third quarter, executing an 18-2 run that expanded their lead to 70-48. This stretch included a remarkable 12 consecutive points while the Wings struggled to find the basket for over three minutes.
However, Dallas mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter, starting with a 9-1 run that narrowed the gap to 73-61, highlighted by a three-pointer from Paige Bueckers. The Wings continued to press, hitting three consecutive three-pointers to close the deficit to 86-82 with just over a minute remaining.
Bueckers then made a crucial baseline jumper with 26.5 seconds left, bringing Dallas within two points at 86-84. Yet, Wilson responded by drawing a foul while converting a layup, extending the Aces' lead to four. The Wings missed two critical three-point attempts, allowing Las Vegas to seal the game with successful free throws.
Jewell Loyd contributed 14 points and Aaliyah Nye added 13 for Las Vegas, which now holds an 11-11 record. Jackie Young suffered a right hip injury early in the fourth quarter and did not return to the game.
For Dallas, Bueckers scored 10 of her total 20 points in the fourth quarter, while rookie JJ Quinerly chipped in with 17 points. Luisa Geiselsoder made a notable impact with a career-high 14 points, all scored in the first half. Arike Ogunbowale struggled offensively, finishing with nine points on just 3-of-12 shooting.
