Adrian Peterson Faces Arrest for DWI and Weapon Charges
Adrian Peterson, the former running back for the Minnesota Vikings, was taken into custody in Sugar Land, Texas, on Sunday morning for driving while intoxicated and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
Reports indicate that the arrest occurred around 10:00 a.m. on October 26. Fort Bend County jail records confirm that Peterson, 40, faces charges of “unlawful carrying [of a] weapon” and “DWI.”
Inquiries have been made to both Peterson’s representatives and the Sugar Land Police Department for further comments regarding the incident.
Peterson's history with law enforcement includes a previous DWI arrest in April, which followed a Vikings draft day party. At that time, police reported observing him driving at 83 mph in a 55 mph zone shortly after 3 a.m.

Local news outlet KHOU 11 reported that the investigation into Sunday’s arrest remains active, suggesting that more details may emerge as authorities continue their work.
Peterson's legal troubles date back to 2014 when he was suspended from the NFL for a year due to felony child abuse charges stemming from an incident involving his then 4-year-old son. He ultimately pleaded no contest, resulting in a reduced charge of misdemeanor reckless assault.
At that time, his agent Ron Slavin stated that “there is nothing more important to Adrian Peterson than being a good father to his children,” emphasizing the lessons learned during that challenging period.
Peterson himself expressed remorse and reflection in a statement released through ESPN, acknowledging the need to reevaluate his disciplinary methods with his son. He noted the importance of parental discipline in shaping his own success.
Following his arrest, Peterson’s wife, Ashley Brown, shared a nostalgic Instagram Story featuring a throwback photo of her husband during his NFL career.
On social media, Peterson had posted an Instagram Story late Saturday night showcasing a live musical performance, hinting at his engagement with fans prior to the incident.
A native of Palestine, Texas, Peterson has had a storied NFL career, playing not only for the Vikings but also for teams including the Arizona Cardinals, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Seattle Seahawks over his 15-season tenure in the league.
