Alec Bohm Exits Game with Bruised Rib Cage
In the midst of a competitive game, Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Alec Bohm departed Saturday's matchup against the San Diego Padres after sustaining a bruise on his left rib cage. This injury occurred two innings following a pitch from Padres starter Yu Darvish that struck him.
The incident unfolded in the second inning when Bohm was hit on his lower left back. Despite the setback, he managed to advance on a wild pitch and later scored on a single by Nick Castellanos, aided by a throwing error from Darvish, which allowed the Phillies to take an early 1-0 lead.
After grounding out in the third inning, Bohm was replaced by Edmundo Sosa in the bottom of the fourth. Sosa made an immediate impact, hitting a two-run single in the fifth inning that shifted the score to 4-3 in favor of the Phillies.
