Anna Wintour Dazzles at Wimbledon Amid Vogue Transition

Jul 13 2025

Anna Wintour, a fashion icon known for her impeccable style, graced Wimbledon on July 11 and 13, captivating attendees with her presence.

On the first day of the tournament, Wintour donned a striking long-sleeved Thom Browne dress, featuring a drop waist and delicate blue floral patterns, paired with classic Manolo Blahnik shoes. This ensemble marked a notable shift from her usual fitted silhouettes, showcasing her evolving fashion sense.

Seated alongside actress Nicole Kidman on Sunday, Wintour's passion for tennis was evident. A regular at the prestigious event, she has been a prominent supporter of the sport for years.

Wintour's recent appearance comes shortly after her announcement on June 25 regarding her transition from the role of Vogue's editor-in-chief, a position she held for an impressive 37 years. While stepping down from this influential role, she will continue to serve as Vogue's global editorial director and as chief content officer at Condé Nast.

Since taking the helm in 1988, Wintour has been instrumental in reshaping Vogue's identity. Her inaugural celebrity cover featured Madonna in 1989, paving the way for future covers that showcased stars like Lady Gaga and Kim Kardashian.

As chief content officer, Wintour will oversee a diverse portfolio that includes WIRED, Vanity Fair, GQ, and several other notable publications. The appointment of a new head of editorial content in the U.S. is expected to free up more of her time to focus on international markets where Vogue operates.

“In any creative field, continuous growth is vital,” Wintour remarked to her team during her announcement. “When I took over Vogue, my goal was to redefine what an American fashion magazine could be.”

She further expressed her enthusiasm for mentoring emerging editors, stating, “My greatest joy now lies in empowering the next generation with fresh ideas and perspectives on what a major media company can achieve.”

The Wimbledon tournament concluded on July 13 with the men's final featuring Jannik Sinner against Carlos Alcaraz. The match commenced at 4 p.m. local time in London (11 a.m. EST), taking place on the iconic Centre Court.
