David Festa Discusses Game Adjustments During All-Star Break
David Festa, a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins, is gearing up for the All-Star break with plans that take him back to his New Jersey roots. "I'm gonna head home to New Jersey, where I'm from," he stated, emphasizing the importance of reconnecting with friends and family. A trip to the Jersey Shore is also on his agenda, a nostalgic destination from his childhood summers.
While relaxation is part of his plan, Festa remains focused on his game. Recently, he implemented a lower body mechanical adjustment that has proven effective, allowing him to concede just six runs over his last three outings. "Overall, I think it's helped with command and efficiency," he noted, reflecting on his progress since making his major league debut last summer. "Bouncing back after that Milwaukee outing, I'm happy with how things are going."
This season has seen Festa called up from AAA St. Paul on two occasions. His latest stint with the Twins included two challenging games where he allowed eight runs in each. "Those types of outings happen," he acknowledged. "But it's about stacking good ones. For me, I still think I'm a little too inconsistent right now. But I think I'm not too far off for where I can find my stride. Go on a good run."
As the second half of the season approaches, Festa faces increased competition for a spot in the rotation with the anticipated returns of fellow pitchers Zebby Matthew and Pablo Lopez from injury. "The littlest things matter," he remarked, highlighting the intricacies of his delivery. "Especially for me, someone with a lot of moving parts in his delivery. If I'm off a little bit, it's good for the staff to remind me or cue me back up."
Festa's commitment to refining his skills is evident as he prepares for the challenges ahead, determined to secure his place in the lineup.
