Disney and Lucasfilm have finalized a settlement with actress Gina Carano, who was dismissed from her role in The Mandalorian after making comments that the company deemed offensive, particularly regarding the Holocaust.
Carano, who portrayed a character in the first two seasons of the popular Star Wars series, did not return for the third season. This decision followed a series of social media posts that then-CEO Bob Chapek stated “didn’t align with company values.”
Among the controversial posts, Carano criticized individuals for sharing their pronouns, questioned the legitimacy of Trump’s 2020 election defeat, and suggested that pandemic-related closures and vaccine mandates were linked to increased suicide and murder rates.
Disney's legal documents indicated that the “final straw” leading to her termination involved posts that trivialized the Holocaust. Carano had remarked, “Because history is edited, most people today don’t realize that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbors hate them simply for being Jews.”

She further questioned, “How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?” In response to her lawsuit, Disney argued that comparing political criticism to the Holocaust was unacceptable.
On Thursday, Lucasfilm announced, “We have reached an agreement with Gina Carano to resolve the issues in her pending lawsuit against the companies.” The statement expressed optimism about future collaborations with Carano.
In a post on X, Carano expressed gratitude towards her legal team and Elon Musk, stating, “I want to extend my deepest most heartfelt gratitude to Elon Musk, a man I’ve never met, who did this Good Samaritan deed for me in funding my lawsuit.” She acknowledged Musk’s support without expecting anything in return.
The settlement has been celebrated by conservatives who viewed Carano’s situation as emblematic of “cancel culture.” Commentator Benny Johnson referred to it as a “major win” for Carano on social media. Entrepreneur Mario Nawfal tweeted, “The Mouse blinked rather than explain their cancel culture in court. Woke corporations learning: mess with free speech, pay the price.”

Guests on Tim Pool’s podcast also reacted positively, with one declaring the settlement as “the end of wokeness.” Former President Donald Trump previously voiced his support for Carano, calling her an “incredible fighter” during a campaign event last year.
