Emily Willis' Health Progress: 'Disabled' Adult Star Showing Improvement After Cardiac Arrest

Mar 24 2026

Emily Willis, known in the adult film industry as Litzy Lara Banuelos, is reportedly on the mend after being deemed "permanently disabled" due to a significant health crisis over two years ago.

Her attorney, James A. Morris, Jr., who represents both Willis and her mother, Yesenia Cooper, provided insights into her current health status. Morris is actively involved in a lawsuit against Summit Malibu and its parent company, Malibu Lighthouse Treatment Centers, on behalf of Willis.

"Fortunately, Litzy is improving, although it is a slow and arduous process," Morris stated, emphasizing her determination to regain a functional lifestyle that would lessen the burden on her caregivers.

This update marks a notable shift from previous reports. Back in November 2025, Morris indicated that Willis remained bedridden due to severe neurological injuries, unable to speak but capable of making sounds and moving her body slightly.

In earlier communications, Morris had noted that while she could make "outward noises" and exhibit some movement, it was challenging to ascertain her level of understanding regarding her situation.

Willis experienced a cardiac arrest at Summit Malibu in February 2024, leading to lasting physical and mental challenges. Following this incident, her mother initiated legal proceedings against the facility in December 2024, alleging abuse of a dependent adult and professional negligence.

Cooper's claims included accusations of abandonment and recklessness, asserting that these factors contributed to irreversible brain damage and ongoing emotional distress for her daughter.

Morris confirmed a tentative settlement has been reached between Cooper and the rehab center regarding the negligence lawsuit. This development was reported by MyNewsLA on March 7.

According to court documents reviewed by The Mirror US, Summit Malibu's legal team filed a Notice of Settlement of Entire Case on February 24. The case has been designated with a special status of "Stay - Conditional Settlement."

While specific conditions for the settlement remain undisclosed, a request for dismissal is anticipated by September 1. An Order to Show Cause Hearing is set for April 27.
