The Dallas Mavericks announced the appointment of Ethan Casson as their new president on Tuesday morning, a strategic move aimed at bolstering the organization’s operational framework.

In this newly established position, Casson will manage the Mavericks' daily business activities, a role he embraces with enthusiasm. "Being named president of the Dallas Mavericks is an extraordinary honor," he stated, expressing gratitude to Rick Welts and Patrick Dumont for their confidence in his leadership. "This iconic franchise is poised not only to compete at the highest level on the court but to deliver a world-class experience for the most passionate and loyal fans in the NBA."

Effective August 11, Casson will report directly to CEO Rick Welts, who will concentrate on the development of a new arena. This transition reflects a commitment to both competitive excellence and enhanced fan engagement.

Mavs Governor Patrick Dumont emphasized that Casson's addition is pivotal for building a championship-caliber team. "We continue to focus on enhancing the game-day experience for our fans—both in the near term and with the construction of a new state-of-the-art arena in Dallas in the years ahead," Dumont remarked.

Before joining the Mavericks, Casson spent nine years as CEO of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Lynx, along with overseeing the Iowa Wolves. His extensive experience spans over 25 years in the sports industry.

Previously, he served as COO of the San Francisco 49ers, where he played a crucial role in developing Levi's Stadium and securing one of the largest outdoor naming rights deals in NFL history with Levi Strauss & Co.

Casson's contributions to basketball have been recognized with his induction into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 2013 and the Colby-Sawyer College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.
