Florida Man Arrested for Installing Tracking Device on Ex-Girlfriend's Car In Hopes To ‘Run Into’ Her
22-year-old Chipotle worker from Florida, Tyler Michael Strack, found himself in hot water after reportedly using a tracking device to keep tabs on an ex-fling from years ago. The motive? Hoping to coincidentally "run into" her, as per authorities.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Department took action against Strack, charging him with a felony offense. The incident unfolded when the woman discovered a Cube tracker affixed to her vehicle last August, as detailed in a criminal complaint obtained by The Post.
Through investigative efforts, authorities traced the tracking device back to a purchase at Best Buy, with Strack's email address being associated with the acquisition, according to the complaint's allegations.
Reportedly, the woman informed officials that she and Strack had a "brief sexual relationship" years ago, which had since concluded with minimal contact in recent times, as outlined in the complaint initially reported by The Smoking Gun.
Admitting to purchasing and installing the tracker on his former flame's car, Strack placed it outside her residence with the intention of serendipitously encountering her, as stated in the affidavit.
Following the revelation, Strack, a resident of Clearwater, faced legal repercussions, charged with the offense of installing a tracking device. He was subsequently released from custody after posting a $5,000 bail.
